Dear mother and father,
Just a few lines to let you know that Mr. Carr, my friend, and myself are in good health, and are both together in this Barracks again. Well, dear mother, I haven't had a letter from Dick. I hope God will help me to get home safe, or lle ofnadwy yma. Well, dear mother, please try and send me some warm clothes for this winter, as it is very cold here; also, send me a parcel every week, if you can.
Give my thanks to every one that gave you money to send me a parcel. I don't know one gentleman you call him Mr Evans, Meddyg Esgyrn, but I am sure that he is somebody from the old Traeth Chapel. I know Mr. W. Jones, Watch-maker, and his brother, who gave you good help to send me some bwyd, Mr. Josiah Williams, Mr. C. Jones, Miss Jones, Baker, and Miss Williams, Llys Gwilym.
Please tell them all at Pwllheli that Mr. Llwgu is still here; and Mr. Will Ddimyngall going to cwffio for blwyddyn eto with Mr. Prydain Fawr.
This is all I have to say now.
Give my best regards to all at Sand Street, and all the family.
This from your loving son,
GRIFF.
