MRS. GWEN FOULKE EDWARDS. GWYNEDD, PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.

She was born at Coed-y-Foel, Isaf, parish of Llandderfel, Gwynedd, Wales.

Gwen, her parents, and 8 siblings emigrated from Wales to Philadelphia aboard the ship "Robert and Elizabeth," arriving July 17th, 1698. The family settled in the Quaker community of Gwynedd, Pennsylvania and were among the earliest settlers there.

Gwen married Alexander Edwards, son of Alexander and Margaret (verch/ap Jon) Edwards of Montgomery township, Pennsylvania, on December 6th, 1703 at the Gwynedd Friends Meeting house. They had 6 children: Edward, Thomas, Joseph, Martha, Alexander, and Jane.

Gwen and her husband later became Baptists and members of this Lower Dublin Pennepack Church. Several of their children and other relatives are interred in the Old Pennepack Cemetery as well.
