MRS. REBECCA HUMPHREY OWEN. MERION, MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA.

Rebecca Humphrey was the daughter of Owen Humphrey of Llwyn-du, Wales. and his wife Jane. Rebecca was descended from Royalty. The books Joseph West and Jane Owen and Welsh Settlement of Pennsylvania trace her lineage through Lady Maud de Chaworth to Alfred the Great, King of England (871-899)and through Henry Plantegenet to King Henry III of England (1216-1272).

Robert Owen married Rebecca Humphrey, daugher of Owen and Jane Humphrey on January 11th, 1678 in Llangelynin Parish, Merionethshire, Wales, England. Robert and Rebecca came to America on a William Penn voyage in 1690.

Robert and Rebecca and their children came to Pennsylvania with a certificate of removal to Merion Monthly Meeting, PA from Tyddyn Garrey, Merionethshire Quarterly Meeting filed June 8th, 1690. The certificate is preserved in the archives of the Haverford (Radnor) monthly meeting.

Robert and Rebecca's home was known as "Penn Cottage" by tradition known as a place where William Penn stayed during his travels.

Robert and Rebecca had eight children.
