MR. ROBERT EVANS. GWYNEDD, MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA.

The testimony of Gwynedd Monthly Meeting concerning their friend Robert Evans deceased.

Robert Evans was born in the Principality of Wales, and arrived in Pennsylvania in the year 1698.

He was one of the first settlers of Gwynedd. Sometime before he left his native county he forsook the National Worship and went to Friends Meetings and soon after his arrival entered into close fellowship and union with Friends.

He was a very diligent frequenter of our Meetings and we have reason to hope that from his solid and grave deportment therein, strove at such times to withdraw his mind from the many intruding objects and cases on this life to attain that calmness of soul which fills the heart for a reception of the Divine teacher and manifested that his dwelling was in heavenly places.

He received a gift in the ministry which was well received as it was chiefly remarks on his own experience in religion, attended with divine life and sweetness.

He expired the day of the 1st month, 1738 and was entered at Friends burying ground in Gwynedd aged about eighty years.
