Ellis and Mary (Morris) Ellis came to Deerfield, Oneida County about 1847.Mr. Ellis died in Deerfield, December 18th, 1888, at eighty-two years of age.
The fathers David Ellis and Hugh Morris, both died in Wales.

MR. ELLIS DAVID ELLIS, DEERFIELD, ONEIDA COUNTY, NEW YORK.
Ellis D. Ellis, who died in Deerfield, last night, suddenly of heart failure, at the age of 82, was a native of North Wales and came to this county many years ago, settling on a farm in Deerfield.He leaves two sons, David E. and Hugh M. Ellis and two daughters, Mrs. Owen (Mary) Jones and Mrs. Charles (Catherine) Cotton of Deerfield.
His wife survives him at the age of 73.
He was a member of the M.E. Church. Utica Morning Herald, Wednesday, December 19, 1888.
He was the son of David and Catherine Morris Ellis.

I Ellis D. Ellis of the Town of Deerfield County of Oneida and State of New York being of sound mind and memory do make, publish and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner following that is to say :First : I direct my Executor and Executrix herein after named to pay all my just debts and personal expenses.
Second : I give and bequeath to my widow the use and profits of all my personal estate of every kind and nature as long as she lives.
Third : I give, devise and bequeath to my said widow the use unto and profits of all my real estate wherever situated as long as she lives.
Fourth : I give and bequeath unto my son David E. Ellis the sum of three hundred and fifty dollars, and I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary the sum of three hundred and twenty five dollars, unto my daughter Catherine I bequeath and give the sum of three hundred and twenty five dollars, and unto my grand daughter Ella E. Ellis the daughter of my son David, I give and bequeath the sum of fifty dollars.
The above legacies in this fourth clause are to be paid within two years after my widow's death.
The rest, residue and remainder of my estate real and personal I give devise and bequeath to my son Hugh Ellis and his heirs and assigns forever whom with my wife I appoint the Executor and Executrix of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former Wills be made.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty ninth day of January 1880.
