Bu farw Mr. Evan Lewis, Steuben St., Utica, Chwefror 16eg yn 78 mlwydd oed. Efe oedd yr aelod hynaf yn eglwys yr Annibynwyr Cymreig yn Utica.Ganwyd ef yn nghymydogaeth Dolgellau, lle bu yn byw, nes oedd wedi priodi.
Claddodd ei wraig gyntaf yn fuan ar ól priodi, ac yna ymfudodd i America. Daeth i Utica tuag wyth a deugain o flynyddoedd yn ól, lle y bu am flynyddoedd lawer yn dilyn ei alwedigaeth fel saer coed.
Tua phen dwy flynedd wedi dod drosodd i Utica, priododd Miss Margaret E. Williams, yr hon a fu yn ymgeledd gymwys am flynyddau lawer, ond collodd hithau trwy angau yn mis Medi 1883.
Bu angau yn gweithio lawer o'i gwmpas yn mhlith ei berthnasau yn ystod ei fywyd. Pan adawodd Gymry yr oedd ganddo bump o frodyr ac un chwaer, ond buont oll feirw o'i flaen ef; efe oedd y chweched angladd y bu yr ysgrifenydd yn gweini ynddynt yn ei dy ef. Brawd i'r wraig a dyn ieuanc arall oeddent wedi cydfoddi; Mrs. Lewis, ei brawd, mab iddi yn fuan ar ei hol, gwraig i'w wyr oedd yn byw yn y tŷ, a Mr. Lewis ei hun.
Derbyniwyd ef yn aelod gan y Parch James Griffiths, yn fuan ar ol iddo gyraedd Utica. Cristion distaw, ond pur gyson ydoedd, yr oedd yn hoff iawn o'r ysgol Sabbothol,ac yn ei mynychu yn gyson.
Bu iddo bedwar o blant, mae mab a merch wedi marw, a mab a merch yn fyw, ac mewn amgylchiadau cysurus. Yr oedd yn byw gyda'i ferch Mrs. Jones, yr bon a fu yn dyner a gofalus o hono ar ol marwolaetb ei mam.

The last Will and Testament of Evan Lewis of the City of Utica in the County of Oneida and State of New York.I Evan Lewis of the City of Utica aforesaid, being of sound mind and memory, blessed be God for the same, but mindful of the uncertainty of human life, do make, publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament.
First : I order and direct that my just debts and personal and testamentary expenses are paid.
Second : I hereby give, bequeath and devise unto my daughter Mrs. Margaret Jane Jones the house and lot which I now reside being number 13 Steuben Street in the City of Utica, Oneida County, New York, upon condition that within one month after the date of my death said Margaret Jane Jones conveys to her brother John E. Lewis all her right title and interest in the house and lot on Elen Street Utica and given and devised to my son George W. Lewis as set forth in the codicil to the Will of my late wife Mrs Margaret E. Lewis as I order and direct said house and lot on Elen Street aforesaid shall be the property of said John E. Lewis absolutely and said devise to my said daughter Mrs. Margaret Jane Jones is upon further condition that within one year from the date of my death said daughter Margaret Jane Jones pays to said son John E. Lewis the sum of nine hundred dollars in cash ($900).
Third : I hereby give and bequeath unto my said daughter Mrs. Margaret Jane Jones any mortgages I may own at the date of my death upon condition that my said daughter Mrs. Margaret Jane Jones pays to my granson John L. Jones the sum of one hundred dollars ($100) within one year after the date of my death and upon the further condition that my said daughter Mrs. Margaret Jane Jones pays to my grandson George H. Jones the sum of one hundred dollars ($100) at the date he arrives at the age of twenty one years.
Fourth : All the rest, residue and remainder of my personal and real estate of every name and nature and wheresoever situated I do hereby give, bequeath and devise equally unto my said daughter Mrs. Margaret Jane Jones and my said son John E. Lewis to be divided between them share and share alike.
Fifth : I do hereby constitute and appoint my said daughter Mrs. Margaret Jane Jones and my said son John E. Lewis Executrix and Executor of this my last Will and Testament and they are to secure no commissions or other compensation as Executors bur are to be allowed their expenses out of my estate.
Lastly : The above requests and devise to my daughter are on condition that she make no charges against my estate or the estate of my late wife and :
I hereby revoke and annul all and every Will or Wills by me heretofore made.
In witness whereof I Evan Lewis the above named testator have to this my last Will and Testament set my seal and affixed my name by making my mark this eleventh day of November 1887.
