Ganwyd Mr. Jones yn Dolgellau, Gogledd Cymru. Daeth i America yn 1841. Yr oedd er's 26 mlynedd mewu partneriaeth a'i frawd R. Owen Jones, yn y fasnach gig ar South Street; ac yr oedd enw "Jones' Bros." yn hysbys iawn yn y Siroedd amgylchynol.

Dyn tawel, diymhongar ydoedd yr ymadawedig, ond meddai ar lu o gyfeillion ac edmygwyr ar gyfrif ei onestrwydd a'i gymeriad diargyhoedd.

Bu yn briod ddwywaith, a gadawa ar ei ôl bedwar o blant, Ida May, Albert S, Fred C, ac Edna. Heblaw ei bartner mewn masnach, gadawodd hefyd dri o frodyr eraill, W. H. Jones o Utica; A. T. Jones o Sacramento, California, a R. W. Jones o Musselshell, Montana, a dwy chwaer, Mrs. Elizabeth Owens a Mrs James O. Edwards o Utica.

MR. FRANCIS E. JONES. 26 CHATHAM STREET, UTICA, NEW YORK.

I, Francis E. Jones now residing on Chatham Street in the City of Utica, Oneida County, New York at the age of 51 years, being of sound mind and memory do hereby make, ordain, publish, and declare this to be my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all former Wills by me made viz.

First : I give to my brother R. Owen Jones my Executor hereinafter appointed the use occupation and possession of all my estate both real and personal in trust for the term of three years after my decease for the purpose of containing and carrying on the business of butchering in which business we are soon engaged as pastures provided the said said R. Owen Jones shall desire elect to so carry on and continue said business after my decease and comply with and carry out the requirements and conditions hereinafter contained.

Second : If the said R. Owen Jones shall so conclude and elect to so carry on and continue said business as herein provided he shall support and maintain my farming in a proper and suitable manner as they are ? supported and maintained from out of the proceeds of said business which would belong to us if I were living; he shall have a right however to deduct from said proceeds a sum which he shall decree a reasonable offset as against my labour in and about conducting and carrying on said business, and the overplus if any shall be added to my estate and be distributed as hereinafter directed.

Third : My said Executor R. Owen Jones shall have the right at his option to close out and discontinue said business at any time before the expiration of said three years, and if so closed out and discontinued then and from the time of such discontinuance the provisions of and contained in the first and second clauses of this my Will shall become void and of no effect and my estate shall be distributed as hereinafter directed.

Fourth : I give, devise and bequeath unto my beloved wife Harriet, and to my children who shall survive me all my estate of every name kind and description, real personal and mixed to be equally divided among them share and share alike, to have and to hold the same to them, their heirs and assigns forever, subject however to the first and second clauses of this my last Will and Testament, except as to the restrictions herein; after provided as to the share or portion of my said wife Harriet.

Fifth : The devise and bequeath herein given to my said wife is intended that she shall have the same both principal and interest thereof for her support and maintenance, and should any part or portion of her said share remain unexpended by her at the time of her decease then and in that case such ? or remaining unexpended shall go to her children her surviving to be equally divided between then share and share alike, but should she have no child or children who shall survive her, then such part or portion so remaining unexpended by her at the time of her decease shall go to my children and be equally divided among them share and share alike.

Sixth : The foregoing devise and bequest to my said wife are intended to be, and I hereby declare them to be in lieu and full satisfaction of all her dower, right or interest on or to my estate.

Seventh : I hereby nominate, constitute and appoint my brother R. Oswen Jones and my son Albert L. Jones (should he be of the age of twenty one at the time of my decease) the Executors of this my last Will and Testament, and I hereby give and grant to my said Executors full and complete power and authority to sell and dispose of my real estate wheresoever the same may be situated and execute all necessary deeds and conveyances therefore.

In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal this 9th day of April 1887.

The above written instrument was subscribed by the said Francis E. Jones in our presence and acknowledged by him to each of us, and he at the same time declared the above instrument so subscribed to be his last Will and Testament and we at his request have signed our names as witnesses thereto and written opposite our names and repective places of residence.
