MR. JOHN H. JONES. HOLLAND PATENT, NEW YORK.
Chwefror 16eg, 1889, yn ardal Holland Patent. New York, John H. Jones (Farrier), yn 48 mlwydd, 8 mis ac 11 diwrnod oed.Ganwyd Mr. Jones yn y Bala. Gogledd Cymru, ar y 5ed o Awst, 1840 ac efe oedd unig blentyn William R. a Mary Hughes Jones, y rhai a'i rhagflaenasant i'r byd mawr tragwyddol.
Daeth i'r wlad hon gyda'i rieni pan tuag wyth mlwydd oed, a sefydlasant yn Holland Patent, lle yr arosodd am tua dwy flynedd; yna aeth i Trenton, lle y bu am tua saith mlynedd; wedi hyny yn ardal y Nant yn mhlwyf Steuben am tua blwyddyn, ac yna yn ôl i Holland Patent, lle y bu yn gweithio ei alwedigaeth fel gof gyda'i dad am saith mlynedd, ac yna, oherwydd gwaeledd iechyd i ddylyn yr alwedigaeth a nodwyd, symudodd i'r fferm ar ba un y bu farw.
Yn 1862, priododd â Miss Elizabeth A. Davies, o Steuben, yr hon, gyda dau fab a dwy ferch, sydd wedi eu gadael i alaru eu colled am dano. Gof ydoedd o ran ei alwedlgaeth reolaidd, ond nid oedd yn ddigon cryf o gyfansoddiad i ddal caledwaith y gelf hono; felly, wedi iddo symud ar y ffarm, o herwydd ei ddeheurwydd gydag anifeiliaid, yn nelllduol ceffylau galwyd arno yn fynych i wasanaethu ar y creaduriaid defnyddlol hyn yn ngwyneb damweiniau neu glefydau a ddygwyddai iddynt yn nghylch ei adnabyddiaeth. Fel hyn, o dipyn i beth, daeth i feddu cryn lawer o hyder ei gymydogion, ac ymledaenodd y son am dano fel farrier, fel, y blynyddoedd diweddaf, yr oedd yn gorfod rhoddi rhan helaeth o'i amser at y gwasanaeth yma.
Diameu na bu hyn yn fantais iddo o ran iechyd, o herwydd gan ei fod yn wanaidd naturiol, yr oedd bod i fyny y nos yn aml mewn ystafelloedd oerion yn niwed mawr iddo.
Dechreuodd nychu yn gynar yn yr hydref, a pharhaodd i waethygu yn raddol hyd adeg ei farwolaeth. Perchid ef yn gyffredin gan y rhai a'i hadwaenai, a daeth lluaws o'i gydnabod, er gwaethaf yr hin oer, i'r tŷ i'w angladd ar y 19eg, pryd y gwasanaethodd yr ysgrifenydd a'r hen dad Thomas T. Evans, a chladdwyd ef yn mynwent brydferth y pentref.
Yr oedd Mr. Jones yn briod tyner a gofalus, yn dad sirio1 ac ymdrechgar dros lwyddiant a lles ei blant, ac yn aelod didramgwydd o eglwys y M C. yn Holland Patent. Bydded bendith Duw ar y weddw a'i phlant.
