Ymfudodd i America yn 1826, gyda'i rieni, y Parch. Robert a Catherine Meredith, yn nghyd â brawd a dwy chwaer.
Buont yn byw yn Marcy am beth amser, yna symudasant i Holland Patent; a bu yr ymadawedlg yn y fasnach esgidiau yno am 45 mlynedd.
Yn 1859 priododd Miss Mary J. Roberts o Deerfield, a ganwyd iddynt ddau o blant - Robert J., yr hwn sydd yn cadw gorsaf y rheilffordd yn Holland Patent, a Mrs. Elizabeth G. Thomas, priod W. R. Thomas, Utica. Hablaw ei weddw a'r plant, gadawodd frawd, R. R. Meredith, argraffydd, Chicago, a chwaer, Mrs. William Evans, Rome, i alaru ar ei ôl.
Yr oedd Mr. Meredith yn Gristion gloew ac yn drysorydd a diacon eglwys y T. C. yn Holland Patent er pan yn 21 mlwydd oed. Yr oedd yn Waharddwr selog, ac yn weithgar gyda llawer o gymdeithasau daionus. Efe oedd ysgrifenydd a thrysorydd y Gymdeithas Feiblaidd dros ranbarth Trenton a Marcy; a bu yn un o ymddiriedolwyr cyntaf union school y pentref.
Cafodd angladd anrhydeddus a lluosog prydnawn dydd lau, pryd y gweinyddwyd yn nghapel y Preebyteriaid gan y Parchn. Richard Hughes (A); G. Griffiths a T. T. Evans o Holland Patent; R. Williams, Rome; Dr. E.G.Williams, Remsen; a J. LI. Davies (W.) o Utica. Y bearers oeddynt Richard Davies, Nant; T. S. Griffiths, Utica; Richard Evans a Robert Pritchard, ei gyd ddiaconiaid; W. Rowlands a J. R. Edwards, Holland Patent.
Yr oedd ei frawd o Chicago yn bresenol yn yr angladd, ac wedi bod yn gweini arno yn ei gystudd olaf.

MR. MEREDITH J. MEREDITH. TRENTON, ONEIDA COUNTY, NEW YORK.
I, Meredith J. Meredith of the Town of Trenton, County of Oneida and State of New York, being of sound mind and memory, do make, ordain, publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament, tht is to say :First : After all my lawful debts are paid and discharged, I give, devise and bequeath unto my lawful wife Mary J. Meredith the use of all my property, both real and personal, during her life time.
Second : At the death of my said wife I give, devise and bequeath what may remain of my property, to my son Robert J. Meredith, and to my daughter Elizabeth G. Thomas in equal share.
Likewide, I make, constitute and appoint Robert G. Meredith my son and Elizabeth G. Thomas my daughter to be Executors, without bonds, of this my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all former Wills by me made.
In witness, whereof, I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal, the eighteenth day of September in the year one thousand eight hundred and ninety one.

The above instrument consisting of one sheet, was at the date thereof subscribed by Meredith J. Meredith in the presence of us and each of us, he at the time of making such subscription, acknowledged that he made the same, and declared the said instrument so subscribed by him to be his last Will and Testament, whereupon we then and there, at his request, and in his presence and the presence of each other, subscribed our names as witnesses thereto.
