MR. ROBERT R. OWEN. FLOYD, ONEIDA COUNTY, NEW YORK.

May 18th, 1891, at Floyd, New York, deacon Robert R. Owen, aged 79 years , 3 months a 1 day.

He was born February 17th, 1812, at Meillionen, Ceidio, Lleyn, Carnarvonshire, North Wales, a son of Richard and Hannah Owen, and a grandson of the late deacon Samuel Jones, Queen's Road, Liverpool.

In 1845 he was married to Miss Ann Jones, Ffridd, Meyllteyrn, and five children were born in the family.

In 1852 they emigrated to America with three of the children living - Jane, Richard and Robert. The latter died at Rome, New York, while yet on their journey to Lewis County, New York, before the construction of the Black River R. R. After living one year on a farm on Tug Hill, New York, they purchased a farm in Floyd, New York, and moved there in 1854, where they lived until the death of Mrs. Owen, April 28th, 1866, aged 54 years.

She was a loving, devoted wife and mother, an earnest Christian and a warm hearted friend. She had buried her only daughter Jane a short time before, who also was an estimable young lady, loved and cherished by all.

In 1871 Mr. Owen married Mrs. Jane A. Prichard of Prospect, New York, who died in 1872, a woman of more than ordinary intelligence and force of character.

He made a trip to Wales in the summer of 1884, which he enjoyed immensely.

Having received an excellent training at home, he had from his youth been an active, growing Christian. He was also highly respected deacon with the C. M. denomination for more than 50 years, and was ever a true yoke fellow, a strong supporter, leader and burden-bearer in every good work. He was remarkable for his zeal and love for Christ and his church. For them he planned, prayed and sacrificed; so near were they to his heart that when his body was writhing in pain and fast wasting away, his trust and joy were in Jesus, and his love and prayer for the prosperity of the church and kingdom of God on earth for which he served faithfully for over half a century.

His son, Richard of Trenton, Nebraska, survives him.

The funeral services were held at the C. M. Church of Camroden, May 20th, where many friends had assembled in token of affection and esteem in which he was held. The Revs. R. Williams, J. H. Jones, D. E. Pritchard of Rome; T. T. Evans of Holland Patent; T. E. Jones and H. R. Williams, were all present and made a few remarks appropriate for the occasion.

The remains were interred in the family lot at Wright Settlement.
