MRS. MARY REESE. WESTERNVILLE, NEW YORK.
February 5th, 1899, Mary Reese, a life-long resident of Westernville, after a long and painful illness, passed away from this land of sorrow to the home of the pure and blessed, aged 68 years, 9 months and 29 days.Mrs. Reese was the widow of the late Solomon Reese. She was born at Llanfairfechan, Caernarvonshire, North Wales, and emigrated with her parents, William and Ellen Pritchard, to this country when 2 years of age. The family first settled in Steuben aud moved to Floyd, where her youthful days were spent.
In 1859 she was married to Solomon Reese, a respectable farmer of Westernville, where the remainder of her useful life was spent. Mrs. Reese united with the Congregational Church of Floyd over 46 years ago and remained true and faithful to the end. She was always ready to do what she could for the church of her choice. She was highly respected in the church and the community at large.
She is survived by four children, Mrs. Humphrey Williams, Rome; Mrs. George Laterman, Steuben, and Silas and George Reese, Westernville; also two brothers and two sisters, R. Pritchard, Floyd, aud John Pritchard, New York; Mrs. Wm. E. Jones, Holland Patent; Mrs. R. Roberts, Floyd.
Wednesday, February 8th, a large number of her friends came to pay the last tribute of respect to the one they loved, the writer officiating.
Her mortal body was laid to rest beside that of her husband at Wells Creek Cemetery.
