Mary was the youngest daughter of David Williams Esq. (1754-1823) of Saethon, Llanfihangel Bachellaeth, Llanbedrog, Caernarvonshire, Wales and Jane Jones (1769-1834).The couple married on June 18 1792 at Llanbeblig, Caernarvonshire, Wales.
David and Jane produced the following children:

Mary wed apothecary/druggist Evan Williams (no relation) at Denio, in Caernarvonshire, Wales on March 7, 1828.

On the night of January 13th, 1845 Evan was the victim of an attempted "assassination". To my knowledge the perpetrator was never arrested. Evan was shot in the back and the bullet exited his lower abdomen.
Fortunately, he recovered from the incident but its occurrence may have facilitated the family's emigration to San Francisco, USA. The entire family with the notable exception of eldest daughter Ann made the trip overseas.
