Parentage: Son of shoemaker John and Anne Roberts of Dwygyfylchi, Caernarfonshire, Wales.

Marriage: Margaret H Jones, daughter of John Parry married John Roberts on 6 Nov 1847 in Dwygyfylchi, Caernarfonshire, Wales.

Children:
Thomas Roberts (1848-1851) died in a house fire when left alone

John W. Roberts ( 1853- ?)
Winifred Roberts (1855-1920) m: Evan Richard Parry

Immigration: John Roberts (28), labourer, with "family" Margaret Roberts (26) and Thomas Roberts (infant) were passengers on board the ship "Higginson" (Master, William H. Owens) which sailed from Caernarfon and reached New York on 5 April 1849.

Obituary: December 9th, near Sardis, JOHN ROBERTS, through a large beam falling on him in a coal mine, and killing him on the spot; he was a native of Caernarfonshire; he left a widow and three children to mourn him. He was buried April 11th in Oak Hill Cemetery, near the Chapel of the Independents (Congregationalists). Rev. J. A. Davies officiated.

Note: Obituary says 3 children. That is because Margaret was still pregnant with Thomas when John died in April and the eldest Thomas predeceased him.
