Robert Thomas Jones was born in Merioneth, North Wales in the year 1790. Month and day are unknown as the families kept no record of birth.He was married to Jane Jones who was born in 1786 in the same County; in 1814 or 1815, date uncertain.
They located on a farm named Ty Mawr near to Drws y Nant, Merioneth. At the end of the ninth year they moved to a farm named Tyn y Garreg near Dolgelley, Merioneth. They lived there for nine years, then came to America in 1852, except the eldest son, Thomas R. Jones.
