MR. JOHN ELLIS. ROME, ONEIDA COUNTY, NEW YORK.
The last Will and Testament of John Ellis.I John Ellis of the Town of Floyd, County of Oneida and State of New York, considering the uncertainty of this mortal life and being of the age of sixty years of sound mind and memory (blessed be Almighty God for the same) do make and publish this, my last Will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say).
First : I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Ellinor Ellis the whole use of all my real and personal property during her lifetime.
Second : After the decease of my said wife I Will and bequeath to my son John Ellis the sum of fifty dollars. I also give and bequeath to my son Ellis Ellis the sum of three hundred dollars.
I also Will and bequeath to my daughter Catherine Thomas the sum of three hundred dollars and also I Will and bequeath to my daughter Ellinor Evans the sum of three hundred dollars and to my daughter Jane Hughes, I Will and bequeath the sum of five dollars, and I give and bequeath to my grand children, Griffith Evans, William Evans, Mary Ellin Evans and Ellin Hughes the sum of one hundred dollars each, which said several legacies or assigns of money I will and order to be paid to the said respective legatees within one year after the decease of my said wife.
I further give and devise to my two youngest sons William Ellis and Thomas Ellis and to their heirs and assigns all the remainder of my personal and real estate of every name and nature to be divided between the two, each one to share alike. I hereby appoint my son William Ellis and William W. Jones Executor of this last Will and Testament hereby revoking all other Wills by me made, and I hereby certify that the one attached to the name of my son John Ellis aforesaid was attested by my request before this Will was signed by me.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the 12th day of July (1870) in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy.
The above instrument of one sheet was now here subscribed by John Ellis to be his last Will and Testament and we at hid request sign our names thereto as attesting witnesses.
