Mr. Ellis Lloyd, a contractor in one of the "Stephen Quarries" near Granville, New York, was engaged with several men Monday in drawing water out of the quarry.He was attending to the tag rope, when it became entangled with his feet, causing him to fall a distance of about 40 feet.
He struck nearly upon his head, causing instant death. He was about sixty years of age, and resided in Middle Granville.
