MORGAN OWEN, REMSEN, NEW YORK.

MORGAN OWEN, son of Owen and Margaret Owen, was born in Carnarvonshire, Wales, and about 1820 emigrated to this country with his parents, three brothers, and sisters. He mamed Ann, eldest daughter of Griffith 0. Griffiths, by whom he had two daughters, Helen and Elizabeth.

In his youth Mr. Owen learned the trade of shoemaker in the shop of Col. Mather Beecher, later established himself in the boot and shoe business here and continued in it until a few years prior to his death, which occurred April 1, 1882, in his sixty-seventh year.

He was twice appointed postmaster, serving from 1861 to 1866, and from 1867 to 1881.
