MR. WILLIAM JONES. MARCY, ONEIDA COUNTY, NEW YORK.
I, William Jones of the Town of Marcy in the County of Oneida and State of New York, being of sound mind and memory, do make, publish and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner following, that is to say :First : I direct my Executor hereinafter named to pay my funeral expenses and all my just debts.
Second : I give and devise to my daughter Jane Jones her heirs and assigns forever twenty acres of land the same lies south of the centre of the highway or River Road in said town of Marcy and runs down to the Mohawk River and adjoining on the West side of what was once the Miller lot.
Third : I give and devise to my daughter Elizabeth Garnond her heirs and assigns forever twenty acres of land lying on the West of side of land above given to my daughter Jane and adjoining the same and running from the centre of the said road down to said river.
Fourth : I give and devise to my daughter Catherine Owens her heirs and assigns forever twenty acres of land lying on the West side of the land above given to my daughter Elizabeth and adjoining the same and running from the centre of said road down to said river.
Fifth : I give and devise to my son Thomas W. Jones during and for the term of his natural life the rest, residue and remainder of my farm and lands upon which I now reside on said road and after his death that portion of my farm and lands devised to my son Thomas for the term of his natural life, I hereby give and devise to his children their heirs and assigns forever.
Sixth : The rest and residue of my estate real and personal I hereby direct the same to be divided into four equal parts, one equal part thereof I hereby give, devise and bequeath to each of my four children their heirs and assigns forever.
Seventh : In case any child should claim anything as a debt against me the said claim must be paid out of the property going to said child under this Will as far as said property will pay the same.
Lastly : I hereby appoint John W. Jones who is an Editor of a Welsh paper the Sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former Wills by me made.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 13th day of February 1883.

The foregoing instrument was at the date thereof signed sealed published and declared by the said William Jones as and for his last Will and Testament in presence of us who at his request and in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto.

Whereas I William Jones of the Town of Marcy County of Oneida, New York have made my last Will and Testament in writing bearing date of 13th day of February 1883 in and by which I have given to my daughter Catherine Owens her heirs and assigns twenty acres of land lying on the Western side of the land given to my daughter Elizabeth and adjoining the same and running from the centre of the highway or River Road in said town of Marcy to the Mohawk River, and I hereby declare that on or about the 25th August 1877, I and my wife Gwen gave a mortgage to Thomas T Owens on any farm and homestead in said town of Marcy to secure the sum of $5500, which sum of money my son in law William Owens received and applied to purpose of his own and which sum the said William ought to pay and I understand there is unpaid about $1600 and the said mortgage sum owned by my daughter Catherine Owens wife of said William.
Now therefore in case my daughter Catherine fails to satisfy said mortgage and prevent the same being a charge and burden upon my estate I hereby declare this my writing to be a codicil to my said last Will and Testament and to be taken as part thereof and I hereby order and declare unless my said daughter Catherine satisfies the said mortgage and prevents the same being an incumberance and burden on my estate that the real estate land and all the estate and personal property bequeathed and devised to her by and in any said Will shall be charged and burdened with the payment of whatever amount may be unpaid on said mortgage.
And lastly it is my desire that this codicil be annexed to and made a part of my last Will and Testament as aforesaid to all intents and purposes.
