MR. JOHN JAMES. REMSEN, ONEIDA COUNTY, NEW YORK.
I John James ofchildren the Town of Remsen, County of Oneida and State of New York and a farmer and being sixty seven years of age and of sound mind and memory do make this my last Will in manner following viz :I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Eliza James to be paid to her by my Executors herein named the annual sum of two hundred and fifty dollars during her natural life payable on the first day of January each year after my decease so long as she may live and also all the household goods now in her house in Remsen Village; these bequests to her are to be in lieu of all her dower and rights on my estate.
I give and bequeath to my grand children Jenkins, Osborn and Eliza Edna, children of my son John James Jr. the sum of twenty dollars each to be paid to them within one year after my decease or to their guardians.
I give, bequeath and devise to my son John James Jr. the use and occupancy of my homestead farm in Remsen called the Jenkins farm, during his natural life and after his decease to his children their heirs and assigns and of said John James Jr. shall die leaving no issue then said farm shall revert to the chil Rdren of my brother William James and to their heirs forever.
Lastly, I give devise and bequeath to my son John James Jr. all the rest residue and remainder of my property real and personal and to their heirs forever. And I appoint my son John James Jr. and my brother William James both of said town of Remsen, Executors of this my last Will.
In witness whereof I Have signed and sealed and published and decreed this my last Will hereby revoking all formwe Wills by me made at Remsen on the fourth day of March one thousand eight hundred and eighty five.

The said John James at Remsen on said 4th day of March 1885 signed and sealed this instrument and published and declared the same as and for his last Will, and we at his request and in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto written our names as subscribing witnesses.
