MR. HOWELL ROBERTS, SLATINGTON, LEHIGH COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA.

The funeral of Howell J. Roberts, an account of whose death appeared in our last issue, was held at 2pm Monday, from the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Abraham Riedy, Washington street, and was very largely attended. Services were conducted in the congregational church by Revs. James Williams, John Williams, Thos. Roberts, D,E. Richards, of town and Rev. W.C. Davis of Catasauqua.

Deceased was 58 years and 6 months old and was born in Wales. He landed in America 20 years ago and came directly to Slatington, where he has resided ever since. Mr. Roberts was held in high esteem by all who knew him, through his death Slatington loses a good citizen and a through Christian.

He is survived by the following children: Evan H., Owen H., Griffith, Robert, Howell J., Mrs. John Davis and Mrs. Abraham Riedy; also a brother, Ellis, of Walnutport.

His wife preceded him about a year in death.

Internment was made in Fairview cemetery. The following were pall bearers: Wm. 0. Owens, Samuel Matthews, Evan T. Davis, Evan Williams, Wm. E. Roberts and M.J. Roberts. Undertaker Berkemeyer had charge of the funeral arrangements.

The following out-of-town people attended the funeral: John M. Jones of Granville, N.Y. a nephew of the deceased; William G. Ellis, John D. Ellis, Owen G. Ellis and Pierce Jones of Bangor; Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. William, of Wind Gap.
