MESACH ROBERTS. CASTLETON, RUTLAND COUNTY, VERMONT.
Mesach Roberts, whose dangerous illness was noted in the Era, some weeks ago, died Sunday at his home south-west of the village. His funeral was held Tuesday afternoon and was very largely attended. Many from the nearby towns of Fair Haven, Poultney Granville and Salem, New York, were present.Religious services were conducted by Rev. D. L. Williams of Fair Haven.
The pall bearers were as follows: John Pritchard, William R. Hughes, William W. Parry, Robert Morris, Benjamin Lewis and Ellis Pritchard.
The burial was in the family lot in the Castleton cemetery. The funeral procession accompanying his remains was one of the largest ever seen here.
Mr. Roberts had been a resident of Castleton, 41 of the 69 years of his life and was an honest, industrious man and withal a good citizen.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. John J. Thomas and Mrs. Edmund Griffith and two sons, John Roberts of Granville, New York, and Richard Roberts of Castleton.
