MRS. GWEN DAVIES RACINE, WISCONSIN.

OBITUARY.

Mrs. Gwen Davies of 735 Villa Street, died early this morning of inflammation of the brain, after a prolonged sickness, in her eighty fourth year.

She was born at Llanfair, near Harlech, Merionethshire, North Wales, and the widow of Capt. Owen W. Davies, who died over 18 years ago, having been a captain of several vessels belonging to this port. Her father and mother, and several of their children emigrated to America in 1842 and settled in Racine, and Capt. and Mrs. Davies and family came here in 1853 fron Carnarvon, North Wales.

Ten children were born to them, four are dead, and three sons and three daughters survive.

Mrs. Davies's health had been poorly for several years, and her daughter, Winnie Davies has been her suecor and companion, and has been very considerate and kind to her mother during all these years. For some time her daughter Mrs. Dora Williams, has been assisting in taking care of her mother. Deceased was a devout member of the Welsh Presbyterian church, and died in the hopes of the gospel. Her end was peace.

The funeral will take place from the Welsh Presbyterian church on Villa street at 2pm on Saturday
