MR. JOHN T. OWENS. PORTAGE, COLUMBIA COUNTY, WISCONSIN.

Farmer. Sec. 27; P. 0. Portage; was born April 30th, 1827, in Merionethshire, North Wales; son of Thomas Owens, who came to America when John T. was only 4 or 5 years old; lived in Herkimer Co., N. Y., till 1857; then came to Wisconsin and died in Caledonia in 1863, aged 62.

Mr. Owens' first wife was Mary Ann Parish, and his second was Ida R. Cappler, who died Feb. 20, 1878, leaving two children — Friend Augustus, born May 3rd, 1872; and, Jemima J., born September 1st, 1873.

Mr. Owen came from Herkimer Co., N. Y., to Caledonia in 1860, and has made his home in that town ever since, except two years that he was railroading in Minnesota; while living in New York State, he followed farming, butchering, and dealing in stock. In politics, he is Republican. Has 160 acres of land.
