MRS. MARGARET EVANS, RACINE, WISCONSIN.
A long and usefeul Christian life was brought to a close Saturday night, by the death of Mrs. Margaret Evans, wife of Dr. E. R. Evans, after a lingering illness of over a year's duration.Deceased was born in Ffestiniog, North Wales, on February 9th 1837, and was the daughter of Robert and Laura Morris-Roberts. She came to this country in 1839 with her parents, who settled near Utica, New York, where she was married on April 9th 1859 to Dr. Evan R. Evans. They removed to Racine on September 20th 1874, and have resided here continuously since that time.
Seven children were born to them, six of whom are still living. They are : Dr. C. Evans, Mrs L. S. Jones, Mrs. E. A. Hinrichs, Miss Margaret Evans, John Evans and Miss Winifred Evans. They are all residing in Racine except Mrs. Hinrichs, who lives at Davenport, Iowa. There is also a sister Mrs. Evan Morris, living at Oriskany New York.
Mrs. Evans was a woman of noble qualities. In her every day walks of life she was kind hearted, generous and ever ready to lend a helping hand to the sick and needy, give advice and consolation to those in trouble and always a Christian of the highest type. By her neighbors she was highly beloved and as a mother and wife she was perfection. In her death there surely passes to the majority a good woman and one who will be greatly missed.
Mrs. Evans was a member of the Welsh Congregational church on Park avenue, and for many years had taken a most active part in the work of the church. The members of the church together with her many other friends, join with the family in sincerely mourning her untimely death, realizing that they have sustained the loss of a true friend.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday afternoon, from the late home of the deceased, 947 Grand avenue.
