JOHN L. DAVIES. DAVENPORT, LINCOLN COUNTY, WASHINGTON.

The death of John L. Davies, a resident of Lincoln county and this city for the last twenty-eight years, occurred at his home here Wednesday morning after an illness of several years duration.

The funeral was held from the Presbyterian Church, Thursday, Rev. J. M Skinner, pastor of the church, officiating and internment was made in Mountain View Cemetery.

The deceased was 78 years, two months and eighteen days old, having been born in Bala, North Wales, March 13th, 1833. He came to this country in 1861, settling at Cambria, Wisconsin, and on January 1st, 1862, married Annie L. Jones who with the nine children born to them survives him. The children in attendance at their father's bedside during the last two weeks of his illness were : Griffith Davies of Redmond, Oregon; Mrs. C. D. Comstock, Seattle; Mrs. S. F. Hayter, Davenport; V. A. Davies, Davenport; Mrs. M. Roark, Lacombe British Columbia; Mrs. Jemima Prouty, Missoula, Mont; Mrs. Katie Doran, Madras, Oregon; and John D. Davies, Egypt. The other one of the children, Mrs. Sarah Cathcart, of Ontario, Canada, was unable to come to this city.

Mr. and Mrs. Davies came to Lincoln County twenty-eight years ago, residing near Sprague for one year and then came to Davenport where they have resided continuously for the past twenty-seven years. For almost fifty years these aged people have led a peaceful married life and besides the nine children of their family, have fifteen grand children.

Mrs. Davies has been a patient in the Davenport hospital for the last two weeks but is improving rapidly and is bearing up well under her bereavement.
