MR. ROWLAND JONES. ROME, ONEIDA COUNTY, NEW YORK.
Rowland Jones, one of Rome's oldest men, died at 9.30 o'clock on Friday night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Morris Wilson, 535 Dealing street.Infirmaties of age caused death, but the final illness was of only 10 days duration.
Mr. Jones was born in Wales 86 years ago last month, and there in 1848 he married Miss Jennie Jones. They came to America the following year, locating in New Hartford, where Mr. Jones worked on a farm for a year. Then they went to Nelson, Madison County, where they lived on a farm.
They came to Rome 22 years ago, and have since lived here. Mr. Jones was an earnest member of the Welsh Congregational Church on Court street.
Surviving are his wife and the following children : Mrs. Henry G. Roberts, Rome; Mrs. John Tschume of Waterville; Mrs. Edward Jones of West Eaton; Mrs. H. S. Eyson of Morrisville and William Jones and Mrs. Morris Williams of this city.
