MR. OWEN A. WILLIAMS. ALBERT LEA, FREEMONT COUNTY, MINNESOTA.
Emigrated from Wales to the United States in 1857.He worked his way through college at Colgate University in Hamilton, New York. After graduating from the Seminary course, he was called to the pastorate of the Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, New York. After 9 years there, his health failed and he took a year's sabbatical before moving west to become pastor in Nebraska City,NE (for 6 years), in Galesburg, Illinois (five and a half years), and at First Baptist Church of Lincoln, Nebraska (8 years). He was Superintendent of missions for Home Mission Society in a district that included WI, MN, ND and SD).
Although he retired officially in 1908, he continued to be active in church affairs. It was while serving as interim pastor for the Baptist church in Albert Lea, Minnesota that he developed pneumonia and died five days later. His wife and his son Charles pre-deceased him. Two sons, John and Richard, and a daughter Elinor survived him.
