Griffith John Edwards died suddenly Tuesday morning at the home of his brother, T. Stanley Edwards, Prospect Street.

The deceased was born i Wales, thirty-five years ago where his mother and two brothers reside. A sister Mrs. William E. Parry, resides at Middle Granville.

The funeral will be held from the house Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock.

The deceased had been in poor health for some months as the result of the 'flu' with which he was stricken in France while a member of a Canadian regiment during the World War.

Mr. Edwards came to his brother's three months ago from Spockane, Washington. He was of an affable nature and made many friends since coming to Granville.

Griffith John Edwards, brother of T. Stanley Edwards, died last week as a result of the developments of complications following influenza which he contracted while serving in France with the Canadian Expeditionary Forces with the Canadian Railway Troops.

The funeral was held from the house of his brother Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. W. O. Williams officiating, and the Granville Post of the American Legion attended in a body and assisted in the ceremonies. Quite a number turned out to pay the last respects to a soldier of our ally, though he was not a member of the Legion. A special guard of honor was detailed and the Legionaires marched all the way to Middle Granville Cemetery.

Griffith John Edwards, the deceased, was thirty-five years of age and was born in Carnarvonshire, North Wales. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Ann Edwards, who is about 60 years of age and resides in Wales, T. Stanley Edwards of Granville, and another brother and sister living in Wales.

Since his discharge the deceased lived in Spockane, Washington, until about three months ago when he came to Granville, the physiciand having given up all hope for his recovery. The Granville Post of the American Legion expresses its heartfelt sympathy to the sorrowing family in their great loss.

The funeral of Griffith John Edwards was largely attended Saturday afternoon from the house of his brother, T. Stanley Edwards of Prospect Street, Rev. W. Owen Williams officiating. A quartet composed of Robert O. Roberts, William R. Owens, Mrs. Humphrey Jones and Mrs. John M. Davies, rendered several beautiful selections. A large delegation from Granville Post of the American Legion were present and officiated as bearers, guard of honor and at the services at the grave in Elmwood Cemetery.

The bearers were: Richard Ll. Pritchard, Janary Consoli, John Tobin, George N. Tucker, Fred Thompson and Percy Pierce, the two latter being members of Canadian regiments, as was the deceased. The guard of honor, which also officiated at the grave as a firing squad, was composed of Alan Thomas, Allan Bemis, Robert Edwards and Daniel Roberts. The Legion's short but impressive ceremony at the grave was finely given by Commander Glan Beedher and Post Chaplain Ruoff, after which three volleys were fired ove rthe grave by the firing squad, and taps sounded by Bugler Ray Dooley.
