MRS. JANE DAVIES JONES. UTICA ONEIDA COUNTY, NEW YORK.
Mrs. Jane Jones, widow of Evan Jones, a resident of this city for the last 32 years, died at the home of her son, Evan Jones, Jr. 404 Mortimer St. at 9:25 o'clock this morning. She had suffered a slight paralytic stroke a week ago and had since been in a critical condition.Mrs. Jones, whose maiden name was Jane Davis was born in Harlech, North Wales, Aug 7th, 1834 a daughter of the late Owen and Ellen Davis. She came to this country and to Utica in 1888 and had since resided here, living the greater part of the time on Corn Hill, where she had won the regard of a host of friends.
Her marriage to Mr. Jones took place in Wales when she was 21 years old. Mrs. Jones was formerly a member of the Coke Memorial Church until it was combined with several other churches, forming what is now known as the Central M.E. Church. She had been active in the work of the church and retained her membership in Central Church until her death.
Besides the son mentioned she leaves another son, Silvanus E and Owen D of Buffalo; a sister in Wales, 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
