EDMUND WILLIAMS. GRANVILLE, WASHINGTON COUNTY, NEW YORK.

A fatal accident occurred Friday morning at the Dalton slate quarry, Middle Granville, operated by the Dorr company, which resulted in the death of Edmund Williams, a most highly respected citizen.

While at work on the slate slant which led from the top of the quarry to the pit, Mr. Williams lost hold of the rope and fell about forty feet, striking on his head, rendering him insensible. Dr. Sumner was called and found beside the injuries to the head, a broken arm. Everything possible was done, but the sufferer never regained consiousness and died Sunday afternoon.

Mr. Williams was born in Bethesda, North Wales, fifty-eight years ago, and came to this country when about eighteen. He was married to Ellen Roberts, with whom he spent twenty-eight years of happy married life. She, with three children survive, Richard E. and Mrs. H. A. Dixon of Middle Granville, and Mrs. M. W. Severance of Cleveland, Ohio. Deceased was a man of more than ordinary ability, and had written much of merit, both of prose and poetry.

During the thirteen years he had resided in Middle Granville he has been a faithful member of the Welsh church, of which he was a deacon at the time of his death. He will be missed by many who loved and honoured him for his daily christian life.

The funeral services are held this (Thursday) afternoon at 2 at the Middle Granville Welsh Church.
