WILLIAM OWEN HUGHES. CASTLETON, RUTLAND COUNTY, VERMONT.
William O. Hughes taken ill a few days before with bronchial pneumonia died Tuesday morning.He was born in Bethesda, Wales, December 25th, 1855, the son of Owen Hughes and came to this country with his parents when a child.
The family lived for many years in North Poultney but after the failure of the Eagle Slate company in 1876, the family separated and William O went to Poultney, where in 1877 he married Mary Dean, who died four years later leaving two daughters, now Mrs. H. Edward Dyer and Mrs, H. R. Pratt of Rutland.
In 1887 he married Nina Gilman of Middleton Springs, who with four daughters, Mrs R. C. Durkee, Nina Frances and Beatrice and one son, Ashton survive him. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. James Williams and two brothers, Robert of Hydeville and Owen Hughes of Little Falls, New York.
The home of the family for thepast 11 years has been at the Corners.
His funeral was held this afternoon.
