MR. WILLIAM HUGH JONES. UTICA, ONEIDA COUNTY, NEW YORK.
William Hugh Jones, 910 Shaw Street, aged 48 years died at his home last evening after an illness of two years.Mr. Jones was born in Dolwyddelen, North Wales. March 10th, 1874. He was a son of Hugh and Alice Jones, who died here a few years ago. He came to this country 10 years ago and located in Granville (NY), where for three years he was employed as a quarryman (sic). He then came to Utica and since then has resided here.
For many years Mr. Jones was a member of the choir of the Tabernacle Baptist Church and for 12 years was sexton, and later, until the time of his illness, held a similar position at the New Century auditorium.
His marriage to Miss Catherine Ellen Jones of Capel Garmon took place in 1895 at Conway, North Wales. Mrs. Jones survives him.
Mr. Jones was a member of Moriah Church and of the Haydn Male Chorus.
Besides his wife, Mr. Jones leaves a son, Hugh Jones; a daughter, Miss Eluned Jones, of this city; five sisters, Mrs. Owen W. Robert of Frankfort Hill, Mrs. William J. Thomas of this city, Mrs. Stephen R. Hughes of Chicago, Mrs. William Evans of Ruabon, North Wales and Mrs. George Williams of Blaenau Ffestiniog, North Wales; four brothers, John G. and David Jones of Utica, Richard and Peter Jones of Syracuse, and be several nephews and nieces, as well as two cousins of this city, W. Christmas Jones and Thomas J. Jones.
