Roedd Griffith Morris Roberts yn fab i Thomas Morris Thomas, Talsarn ym mhlwyf Llangian ac Elizabeth Williams, Ty'n Simdda, Llaniestyn. Yn hannu o hen deulu Mynachdy, Bryncroes.Pan oedd yn wr ieuanc 'roedd yn gweithio fel gwas fferm ar wahanol ffermydd yn Llyn.
Yn 1882 ymfudodd i'r America. Bu yn ffermio yn ymyl Rome yn nhalaith Efrog Newydd.
Priododd gyda Sarah Ann Hughes o Rome. Yr oedd Sarah yn wyres i'r Parch William G Pierce, gweinidog capeli Penycaearau a Nant yn Steuben.
Bu Griffith Morris Thomas farw ar 26/9/1923 yn Rome.

Death of a Well Known and Esteemed Resident.
At 5:20 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at his home on upper W. Thomas Street, occurred the sudden death of Griffith M. Thomas aged 65 years. He was a farmer by occupation.Mr. Thomas was born in Carnarvonshire, North Wales, December 24th, 1857. He came to the United States and to Rome in 1882 and had since resided here. On March 24th, 1892, he married Miss Sarah A. Hughes, who survives. Three children also survive, John M.; Helen and Mary Thomas, all at home, and three sisters and one brother in Wales, one brother in England, and one in Rome, David R. Thomas, also several nephews and nieces.
Mr. Thomas was an active member of the Welsh Presbyterian Church and was a Republican in politics. He was held in high esteem by many friends and business associates.
