HUGH W. OWEN. OAK PARK, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS.
I, Hugh W. Owen, of the city of Chicago, County of Cook and State of Illinois, being of lawful age and of sound and disposing mind and memory do hereby make, publish and declare this my Last Will and Testament, meaning and intending hereby to dispose of all my worldly estate of whatsoever name or nature and wheresoever situated of which I shall die seized or possessed or in which I shall have any interest whatever at the time of my decease.First : I direct that all my just debts, funeral expenses and expenses of administration upon my estate shall be paid by my executrix hereinafter named, out of my estate.
Second : I hereby give and bequeath to my grandaughter DOROTHY OWEN, the sum of Fifty ($50.00) dollars and to my grandaughter RUTH OWEN, the sum of Fifty ($50.00) and to my grandson WILLIAM A. OWEN, Jr, the sum of Fifty ($50.00) dollars and to my grandson ROBERT L. OWEN Fifty ($50.00) and I direct that in the event that either of my grandchildren shall not have arrived at lawful age at the time of my death, the sum of money hereinbefore bequested to them respectively, shall be deposited to the credit of such grandchild in the Savings Department of THE NORTHERN TRUST COMPANY all Illiois corporation, and the receipt of THE NORTHERN TRUST COMPANY before mentioned shall be a complete discharge of my executrix from all responsibility in relation to the same. It is my intention that said several sums of money shall be allowed to remain in the Savings Department of said THE NORTHERN TRUST COMPANY together with all interest which shall accrue thereon, until my said grandchildren shall respectively have the right to withdraw the same with the accumulations thereon.
Third : I give and bequeath to my grandaughter MARY OWEN EVANS the sum of one hundred ($100.00) dollars and to my grandaughter JANE O. EVANS, the sum of one hundred ($100.00) dollars and I direct that in the event that either of my said grandchildren shall not have arrived at lawful age at the time of my death, the sum of money hereinbefore bequeathed to them respectively, shall be deposited to the credit of such grandchild in the Savings Department of THE NORTHERN TRUST COMPANY hereinbefore mentioned and the receipt of said THE NORTHERN TRUST COMPANY shall be a complete discharge of my executrix from all responsibility in relation to the same. It being my intention that said several sums of money shall be allowed to remain in the Savings Department of THE NORTHERN TRUST COMPANY aforesaid, together with all interest which shall accrue thereon, until my said grandchildren shall respectively arrive at lawful age at which thime they shall respectively have the right to withdraw the same with the accumulations thereon.
Fourth : I direct that my Executrix shall pay out of my estate to the City of Racine, in the State of Wisconsin, the sum of One hundred ($100.00) dollars as a trust fund to insure the perpetual car eof my burial lot in Mound Cemetery, being the east one-half of Lot number "D" in Block number Two (2) in said Cemetery.
Fifth : I have heretofore advanced to my daughter BEULA JONES (wife of Daniel Jones) what I consider her fair proportion of my estate and for that reason make no provision for her in this my last Will and Testament and I hereby deviase and bequeath to my daughter WINIFRED OWEN EVANS and my son WILLIAM ARTHUR OWEN, all the rest, residue and remainder of my estate of whatsoever name or nature wheresoever situated of which I shall die seized or possessed to have and to hold the samr to and for their own proper use and benefit, their heirs and assigns forever. It being my intention that my said daughter WINIFRED OWEN EVANS and my said son WILLIAM ARTHUR OWEN shall each take one-half part of the residue, of my estate remaining after the payment of the specific legacies herein before mentioned.
Sixth : I hereby nominate and appoint my daughter WINIFRED OWEN EVANS to be the Executrix of this my last Will and Testament and I direct that she shall not be required to enter into any bond or give security for the faithful performance of her duties as such Executrix.
Lastly : I hereby revoke all former Wills by me at any time made and declare that this instrument contains the whole of my last Will and Testament.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 29th day of July, 1921.
The foregoing instrument was, on the day of the date thereof, signed, sealed, published and declared by the said Testator, Hugh W. Owen, as and for his last Will and Testament, in the presence of us, who, at his request, and in his presence and in the presence of each other, have hereunto subscribed our names as attesting witnesses, and we further certify that at the time of the signing of his name to said instrument the said HUgh W. Owen was of sounf and disposing mind and memory.
