EVAN H. JONES. LIME SPRINGS, HOWARD COUNTY, IOWA.
Born in 1835 at a place called Tanycoed near Bettws y Coed, Caernarvonshire, Wales.His parents, Rev. Hugh Jones and Mrs. Jones, were highly esteemed in the community for their piety and intergrity. He thus enjoyed the advantagr of religious training and instruction at home by pious parents and in the Church of God.
The family came to America in 1845 and settled at Columbus, Wisconsin, where his father ministered many years and was highly respected. After his father's death he and his mother moved to Lime Springs in 1867 where they have been very successful.
In the year 1878 he was married to Sidney, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Roberts, of Columbus, Wisconsin. They had three children of whom one died almost five years ago.
Mr. Jones is a graet reader, a patron of Welsh literature, and becaude of his intellectual power and force of character, is one of the most prominent and active men among the Welsh of Howard county and vicinity.
