WILLIAM MORRIS ROBERTS. POULTNEY, RUTLAND, VERMONT.

The death of William M. Roberts occurred at his home on East Main Street, Wednesday, November 16th at 6 a.m.

Mr. Roberts was born in Wales on July 11th, 1860. He lived in Wales until he was 26 years old and then came to the United States.

He had lived in Poultney for 18 years.

His death followed an illness of six years caused by shock. He was married to Ellen Evan, in Wales on the 8th day of May 1882.

He is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Thomas O. Roberts, Mrs. Evan G Williams, Mrs. Thomas Owens, Mrs. Herbert Hughes of West Pawlet and four sons, William W., Maurice M., Evan W., and Glynndwr Roberts, all of this town.

Mr. Roberts was a slate maker for many years and belonged to the quarry union.

He was a member of the Welsh Presbyterian church.

His funeral was held at this church, Saturday, November 19th. The officiating clergyman was Rev. Davies, assisted by Rev. Corliss.

The bearers were : Isaac Davies, David Hughes, William Hughes, John Jones, William Owens and Thomas C. Owens. Internment in Poultney Cemetery.

Those from out of town attending the funeral were : Mrs. J. Jones and Mrs. J. T. Roberts of Utica, Mr. and Mrs. John C. Owens and Mr. and Mrs. William W. Roberts of Ilion.
