MR. ROBERT JONES. READING, LYON COUNTY, KANSAS.
Robert Jones, who died March 29th at his home in Reading, was born May 11th, 1836 in Garndolbenman, Caernarvonshire, North Wales.He was the son of William and Ellen Jones.
He came to America with his parents in 1842, settling in New York. In 1851, the Jones family moved to Aurora, Illinois.
He was married December 29th, 1868, to Annie Davies, of Big Rock, Illinois. Mr. and Mrs. Jones moved to Kansas in February, 1872 and located on a farm two miles east of Arvonia. They moved to Reading in 1904. Mrs. Jones was stricken with paralysis in 1908 and died January 24th, 1914. Mr. Jones became an invalid two years ago and had been unable to leave his home since.
Mr. Jones was active in city affairs at Reading and maintained his interest until his death. He was a member of the Congregational church at Arvonia, but joined the Methodist church when he moved to Reading.
He is survived by three children, D. Willis Jones, Elli[s] J. Jones and Mrs. Ada G. Lundquist; a sister, Mrs. Jane Hooker, of Portland, Oregon, and three grandchildren, Paul, Marjorie and Martin Jones.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church in Reading. Rev. Homer A. Fintel [?], pastor of the church, conducted the services. The church choir sang.
Interment was in Reading cemetery.
