DAVID R. ROBERTS. MIDDLE GRANVILLE, WASHINGTON CO. NEW YORK.
The death of David R. Roberts, eighty years of age, occurred Saturday in Boston, following a stroke. Two years ago, the deceased sustained a broken neck when he was struck by an automobile and had been suffering from the effects of the accident since then. Mr. Roberts was born in North Wales and came to this country in 1871. He is well known in this vicinity, having lived in Poultney, Fair Haven and Hydeville; also resided in Pennsylvania.He was united in marriage with Miss Hannah Williams, daughter of David T. Williams (Yr Ynys) of Granville and her death occurring thirty-six years ago. To them were born two sons and on daughter, who survive, David R. Roberts Jr., of Cambridge, Massachusetts, George Gordon Roberts of Boston and Mrs. Herbert E. Jacques of Quincy, Massachusetts.
The funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon from the home of Raymond Williams, North Street, Granville, Rev. Richard Owen of Middle Granville, officiating. The Morning Star lodge, F. and A. M. of Poultney, of which he has been a member of nearly fifty years, had charge of the committal service. The burial was in Elmwood Cemetery, members of the lodge acting as bearers.
Relatives from out of town who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Jacques and daughter Dorothy, Mr. and Mrs. David Roberts, Jr. and son Wendall and Mrs. Evan Roberts of dunmora, Pennsylvania.
