JOHN ROBERTS. GRANVILLE, WASHINGTON COUNTY, NEW YORK.
Funeral services for John Roberts of Granville, whose death occurred Sunday afternoon at 12:30 o'clock, after a year of failing health and five weeks' illness, were conducted Wednesday afternoon from thr home, the Rev. Richard Owen Officiating.The bearers were: Reese G. Williams, Evan J. Williams, Richard L. Pritchard, Steven Thomas, William P. Thomas and Owen D. Roberts.
Burial was made in the family plot in Mettowee Valley Cemetery, where two sons are buried.
Mr. Roberts, a native of Wales, was born in October 1871. He came to the United States locating in this valley about forty-three years ago. He was a slate maker by occupation.
Miss Sarah Jones became his bride and they made their home in Granville, where they have resided for more than forty years. He was a member of the Welsh Congregational Church, the I.O.O.F. lodge, and the True Ivorites of America.
The survivors, besides his wife, include two sons and two daughters; Stanley and Clifford Roberts of Granville, Mrs. Dorothy Brooks of Pawlet, Mrs. John S (Charlotte) Jones of South Poultney, and several grandchildren.
