ROBERT O. ROBERTS. GRANVILLE, WASHINGTON COUNTY, NEW YORK.

Robert O. Roberts, always known as "Bob Halfway," age 76 died at his home on East Potter Avenue, Granville, Sunday morning from a stroke of appoplexy suffered Thursday. Mr. Roberts had been in poor health for some time. He was born in Talysarn, North Wales, September 25th, 1855, coming to this country when a young man and locating in Poultney.

February 29th, 1889, he was united in marriage with Miss Kate Jones of New York City. After residing in Poultney for a time they went to Wales, where they spent five years. Upon their return they located in Granville, where they have lived for the past thirty years.

Mr. Roberts was one of Granville's best known Welsh residents and was always interested in the welfare of the village and town, serving as trustee for one term a number of years ago. He was amember of the Morning Star Masonic Lodge of Poultney and of the Order of True Ivorites, the latter having charge of funeral services.

In the passing of Robert Roberts, a familiar figure on the streets of Granville will be missed. His occupation as a slate maker acquainted him with many people in the slate district of New York and Vermont, all of whom respected him highly and appreciated his fine character and friendly association.

The funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon from the Welsh Congregational Church of which he was a member, Rev. Richard Owen and rev. Samuel Prytherch officiating.

The bearers were Thomas Rowlands, John R. Hughes, William Philip Thomas, Evan J. Williams, Robert E. Jones and David W. Pritchard. Internment was in the Mettowee Valley Cemetery. Hugh R. Thomas, chaplain of the True Ivorites read the committal service.

The survivors include the widow, a sister in Wales, two nieces, Mrs. Frank L. Jones Jr. of Granville and Mrs. William Ross of Salines, California; a cousin Harry Parry of Poultney.
