ELIZABETH ROWLANDS. GRANVILLE, WASHINGTON COUNTY, NEW YORK.

The death of Mrs. Elizabeth Roberts, 72, widow of John J. Roberts, occurred Monday morning nera the noon hour at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Hugh M. Evans, Washington Street, Granville. She had made her home with Mrs. Evans for some time and had been in ill health for about two years, undergoing a serious operation about a year ago.

Mrs. Roberts was born March 16th, 1861, in Wales, the daughter of John W. and Anna Williams Rowlands. She came to the United States sixty-eight years ago.

September 30th, 1882, she was united in marriage with John J. Roberts and they made their home in West Pawlet. May 11th, 1903, Mr. Roberts' death occurred and Mrs. Roberts came to Granville to reside.

Elizabeth Roberts was one of this community's most esteemed Welsh residents. Generous of heart, considerate of her family and friends, entirely unselfish in her nature, she was beloved by all who were so fortunate as to know her. Wherever she went she radiated happiness, and for "Nain" Roberts to pass the portals of one's home was insurance of pleasure while she was within that home. She will be missed by many, but we have have all been enriched by her presence with us.

She was tenderly cared for by her daughter, Mrs. Evans, who spared nothing for her mother's comfort during a long period of poor health. To care for her was apleasure in itself as no word of complaint ever passed her lips. She took life as she found it, scorning idle gossip and finding good in all of us. The good she dwelt upon; the bad she overlooked. Truly she was one of God's noblewomen.

The survivors include two sons, John L. Roberts of Albany and William J. Roberts of Granville; two daughters, Mrs. Hugh (Helen) Evans and Mrs. Richard (Anna) Hughes; one brother, John Rowlands of South Granville; two sisters, Mrs. David Roberts and Mrs. Robert O. Owens; grandchildren, Jeanette Evans, Haydn Hughes, Joyce Billy and Jessie Roberts; nieces, Mrs. Anna Roberts and Mrs. Catherine Roberts of Granville; nephews, John Reese and David Roberts, Dtanley Rowlands, Robert O. Gordon and Owen Haydn Owens.

The funeral services were conducted from the home yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. S. E. Prytherch, pastor of the Peniel Presbyterian Church of which Mrs. Roberts was a member, officiating. He paid a beautiful tribute to the life of the deceased. Favorite hymns were sung by two nephews, "Abide With Me," by Ellis Roberts and "Shall We Meet Beyond the River" by Gordon Owens. Beautiful floral pieces were sent by relatives and friends.

The bearers were all nephews; Gordon Owens, Ellis, David and John Roberts, Fred Bottrall and Alvah Knight.
