Part of the report illegible...........................

A large crowd gathered during the investigation and officers had to keep the traffic moving to allow cars to pass.

Reports Tuesday were to the effect that Mrs Smith was expected to recover although she is in a serious condition.

Robert W. Jones was born in Wales, April 20th, 1872, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. Jones. He came to the United States 45 years ago and was united in marriage with Miss Mary J. Roberts, who died May 5th, 1928, while they were residing in Granville.

The survivors are Iswal and Lemuel Jones, who are both guards at Dannemora prison at Clinton, New York, one daughter, Betty, now Mrs. Gordon Smith; five grandchildren.

Robert W. Jones was a fine man and when he and his wife, who died in 1909(check date KP) lived in Granville, they were highly respected and made themselves felt for good in their community. Many in Granville and West Pawlet admired them both and remembered them well. His untimely passing is sad, especially the manner in which he met his death.

The funeral services were held at McHenry and Roberts Funeral Home yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon at 2 o'clock, the Rev. Ellis Lloyd of the Presbyterian church officiating. He was a faithful attendant at this church while in Granville. A duet was sung by Mrs. John M. Davies and Mrs, John B. Davies.

The two songs sung by the Mesdames Davies were 'Beautiful Isle of Somewhere' and 'We Shall Meet Beyond the River' in Welsh.

The bearers were : Robert O. Owens, Robert O. Williams, Richard J. Davies, Evan J. Williams, Jack W. W. Jones and Robert Williams. Burial was in West Pawlet Cemetery.

Reports this morning are that Mrs. Smith is improving and that the daughter Jane has been discharged from the hospital.
