DAVID GRIFFITH ROBERTS. POULTNEY RUTLAND COUNTY, VERMONT.
The death of David Griffith Roberts, 68, of Poultney occurred at his home, Monday night of last week. He suffered a shock, December 31st, from which he never rallied. Mr. Roberts was the oldest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Griffith I. Roberts and was born in Poultney, (KP note I think this may be wrong) where he has always resided, spending most of his life in farming in the northern part of the town.A few years ago, Mr. Roberts moved to the village of Poultney and purchased a home on Granville Street, where he resided for some time. He had resided for the past year on College Street. Mrs. Roberts passed away last winter after a short illness caused from a broken hip.
The survivors are three sons, Earl and David of Poultney and Raymond of Hampton, New York, and one daughter, Florence Roberts of Watertown, Massachusetts, two sisters, Mrs. William Dockum of Fair Haven and one brother, Griffith Roberts of Sanford, Maine.
The funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at his late home, Rev. Lemuel Jones, pastor of the Welsh church officiating.
The bearers were Charles Dockum, John Dockum and Mark Warren of Fair Haven and William Rooney and Daniel Rooney of Castleton.
The burial was in Hillside Cemetery.
