WILLIAM G. MORRIS. POULTNEY, RUTLAND COUNTY, VERMONT.

The death of William G. Morris of Poultney, occurred Monday afternoon of last week at his home on Grove Street, after a week's serious illness, though he had been in poor health for some time, but able to be up and about having recently returned form a trip to Florida. His health had failed since the death of his only daughter, Mrs. Ann Wilson, whose death occured just eight months ago.

Mr. Morris was born in Wales, 72 years ago and came to this country in his youth, having spent the greater part of his life in South Poultney. He was the son of the late Griffith H. Morris of South Poultney. Twenty years ago he moved to Poultney.

He was a member of Morning Star lodge F. and A. M., the local chapters of the True Ivorites and Odd Fellows. He was also a member of the Welsh Presbyterian Church, where he performed his duties as treasurer for 20 years. He had followed the life of a quarryman. Before coming to Poultney to reside, he had held the office of church secretary of the Welsh Church at South Poultney for 20 years.

He was a loving father and will be sadly missed in his home as well as by a large circle of friends.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Griffith H. Morris of Whitehall, John W. Morris of Albany, and T. Neil Morris of Springfield, Massachusetts; two sisters, Mrs. Ellen Roberts and Mrs. Margaret Edmunds of Poultney and one brother Griffith G. Morris of Poultney.

The funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Welsh Presbyterian Church, Rev. Lemuel Jones, pastor, officiating. Evan G. Williams rendered a solo. The bearers were nephews, Cecil Campbell, Rutland; William Morris, Gordon Pritchard, Morris Roberts, Meirion Jones and Ellis Jones, Poultney. The burial was in the family plot in Hillside cemetery.
