The death of Mrs. Catherine Hughes, widow of John R. Hughes occurred late Monday night. She had been in failing health for the past five years, soon after the death of her husband occurred in 1935.Mrs. Hughes was a native of Wales, born 85 years ago. She was married first to Hugh Hughes and several years after his death, was married to John Hughes, brother of her first husband.
She was a kind and thoughtful wife and mother. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and faithfully attended while her health permitted. She was devoted to her home and it was always open to her friends. She made many friends with her quiet pleasant manner, who mourn her passing. She brought up her nephew, Raphael Roberts of Glens Falls, her brothers' son following the death of his mother, who survives with a sister, Mrs John T. Jones of Utica and a nephew of West Pawlet and another of Ohio.
The body was brought to the McHenry and Roberts funeral home when friends called. The services are held this Thursday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the funeral home, Rev. Ellis Lloyd, pastor of the Presbyterian Church of which she was a member officiating. The internment will be in Mountain View Cemetery, West Pawlet, in the family plot.
