JOHN W. JONES. PAWLET, RUTLAND COUNTY, VERMONT.

The death of John W. Jones of West Pawlet, 82, occurred Thursday, August 21st, at his home following a year's illness.

Mr. Jones was born in Bethesda, North Wales, the son of Gaynor and William Jones. He came from Wales to reside at West Pawlet, 54 years ago. He has been employed by Rising and Nelson for the past 40 years. He was a member of the Welsh Methodist church and had served as janitor of the church for the past 30 years.

He married Margaret Williams, who has passed away. Three daughters and one son survive, Gaynor Jones of New York, Mrs. Margaret Pugh of New Hartford and Mrs. Morwenna Rogers and Jack Jones of West Pawlet; also several grandchildren and one brother, William Jones of Utica.

The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the house, Rev. Franklin Ellis officiating assisted by Rev. Father Brown and Rev. Father Jenkins. The internment was in Mountain View cemetery at West Pawlet. The bearers were John M. Jones, Isaac Lewis, Robert Jones, John B. Griffith, Simeon Rising and Richard H. Jones.

Relatives and friends attending the services from out of town included Mr. and Mrs. Brayton Pugh, Gaynor Ann Pugh, Jean Pugh, New Hartford; William H. Jones and Allen Jones, Utica, and Mrs. Harry Harold of Troy.
