PIERCE DAVIES. MIDDLE GRANVILLE, WASHINGTON COUNTY, NEW YORK.
Pierce Davies, former well known Granville resident, uncle to Supervisor Hugh Williams of Middle Granville, died suddenly at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. A. Corbin at Burlington, Vermont last week.The deceased who made his home in Hoylake, Massachusetts, was visiting his daughter when he suffered an attack of uremic poisoning. He was in his 92nd year, having been born in Llanberis, North Wales, Arpil 13th, 1850, the son of Pierce Davies and Margaret Griffiths Davies.
He came to the United States with his parents in 1854 and most of his early life was spent in Granville. Mr. Davies had been a member of the Masonic fraternity for more than 50 years and was an active member in the Rotary for many years.
June 10th,1880 he was married to Jennie D. Dixton of Hartford, Washington County, New York, who died in 1921. There are two daughters surviving; Miss Anne M. Davies of Hoylake, Massachusetts, and Mrs. John A. Corbin of Burlington, Vermont; also two grandchildren, Miss Margaret B. Corbin of Richmond, Virginia and Dr. Stuart S. Corbin of Burlington, Vermont.
Besides Supervisor Hugh Williams there are other near relatives of the deceased in Granville.

The remains od Pierce Davies were brought to the home of Supervisor Hugh Williams, Wednesday and at 2 o'clock were taken to the Elmwood Cemetery at Middle Granville to be buried in the family plot. Rev. Ellis Lloyd officiated at the committal services.Mr. Davies was formerly of Middle Granville but for many years redided in Holyoke, Massachusetts. At the time of his death in January, he was visiting at the home of his daughter at Burlington, Vermont.
Mr. Davies was 92 years of age. He was an uncle of Supervisor Williams and a great uncle of Miss Mamie Price, Vincent Price and Newton Price.
