CATHERINE MARY OWENS. GRANVILLE, WASHINGTON COUNTY, NEW YORK.
The death of Mrs. Robert R. Owens, 68, occurred Thursday morning at her home about 9 o'clock. She had been in ill health for several months. She underwent an operation on her eye in October and had been in failing health since that time.Mrs. Owens was born in Festiniog, Wales, Catherine Mary, daughter of Grace C. and John Williams, May 18, 1874. She came to this country when about two years of age with her family, they settling in Granville where she resided her entire life.
She was married to Mr. Owens, 29 years ago at Granville, who survives her with one daughter, Mrs. William E. (Bertha) Tobin, one sister, Mrs. Robert C. Williams and a niece, Mrs. William W. Huntress of Fall River, Massachusetts, also several cousins. A brother Robert L. Williams who resided with her passed away about one year ago.
She had been a member of the Welsh Congregational church of Granville since childwood and a faithful attendant while her health permitted. Shw was also a member of the Ladies Aid Society and a faithful worker.
The funeral services were held at the home in Granville Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. Henry Hughes, her pastor officiating. Two of her favorite Welsh hymns were sung during the services. The burial was in Metttowee cemetery beside her late brother. The bearers were John R. Roberts, Robert Williams, Stephen Thomas, Richard Pritchard, Owen R. Jones and William G. Roberts. Many beautiful floral tributes covered her casket.
Though of a retiring nature, she had a host of friends who mourn her passing. She was devoted to home and family and her absence will be deeply felt. Sympathy is extended the husband, daughter and sister, who was her constant companion.
