MRS. KATHERINE "KATE" JONES HUGHES. CLINTON, ONEIDA CO, NEW YORK.

Mrs. Stephen R. Hughes, 54, Avon, New York, a former Utican, died February 22nd 1943 in Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, after a brief illness.

Kate E. Jones Hughes was born in Dolwyddelen, North Wales in 1889, daughter of the late Hugh and Alice Jones and came to the United States in March 1907. Her family settled in Utica and she was married 25 years ago to Mr. Hughes. Since them, Mr. and Mrs. Hughes resided for a few years each in Chicago, Fulton, Massena, and the remaining years in Rochester and Avon. While in Utica she was a member of Moriah Presbyterian Church, and since living in Avon, was active in the Presbyterian Church there.

Besides her husband she is survived by three sisters, Mrs. William Evans and Mrs. George Williams, North Wales, and Mrs. William J. Thomas, Utica; four brothers, John G. Jones and David Jones, both of Utica; Richard E. Jones, Syracuse, and Peter Jones, Cooperstown.
