EVAN M. JONES. POULTNEY, RUTLAND COUNTY, VERMONT.
The death of Evan M. Jones, 59, occurred at his home in Poultney Wednesday after a long period of ill health. Mr. Jones was born in Wales and came to the United States 37 years ago. Much sympathy is felt for the surviving daughter, Miss Catherine Jones, a popular soloist, and the son, Lieut. Glynn Jones, with the Marines in the South West Pacific as chaplain. Their mother passed away ten months ago. Mr. Jones is also survived by one grandchild and a sister, Mrs. Hugh Thomas in Wales.Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Baptist church, where Mr. Jones' son and daughter are members. Rev. Paul Shepard, pastor, and Rev. Henry Hughes of Granville officiated. Ernest Morris of Granville beautifully rendered two solos.
The bearers were George Norton, Elmer Lee, Hugh Davis of Poultney, Harry K. Williams and Harry J. Williams of Granville. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery.
